Tips to keep our Kids Healthy (and adults too!)

  1. Make sure to get enough rest- sleep time is restorative for our bodies and minds.
  2. Drink Water- half our body weight in ounces of water per day ie. 120lb woman needs to drink 60oz of water /day
  3. Reduce as much as possible processed foods, sugar, candy, cheese & high fat or fried foods.
  4. Identify food allergies and/or sensitivities
  5. Eat a diet of fresh, wholesome foods- organic grains, fruits, veggies, meats, tofu, poultry and fish.
  6. Move! Exercise, stretch, breathe, get outside when possible- be in nature.
  7. Have fun and laugh a lot! Studies have shown happy people have stronger immune systems.
  8. Take probiotics – acidophilus and bifidus. Very important for anyone who has taken antibiotics.  Healthy flora in the intestines keeps us healthy too.
  9. Wash your hands often.
  10. Limit TV, video games and computer time.
  11. Keep stress to a minimum- children are very sensitive and can pick up emotions from others which can effect their health.

Herbal and Supplement Suggestions:

  1. Astragalus is a great herb to take during cold season- helps boost the immune system- do not take this herb if you have a fever.  (Astra-C, Astra-8, Astra Isatis by Health Concerns)
  2. Probiotics are a must- Bifidus is particularly important for children. (PB-8 is a good one for adults, Nature’s Way chewables for kids)
  3. Increase daily Vitamin C. (daily doses: 1000 mg for adults, 250mg for children over 3, Hyland’s homeopathic Vitamin-C for infants-3 years old)

Testimonials

We knew something was "not quite right" from the time my son was only a few days old.  He didn't like to be swaddled, and he screamed when placed in the confines of his cradle, bouncy chair or car seat.  It broke my heart when night after night my newborn baby refused to be comforted in my arms.  Multiple visits to his pediatrician simply labeled him as a "fussy" baby and me and my husband as "paranoid" parents.

We finally got his doctor's attention when he started missing verbal milestones.  He didn't coo.  He didn't babble.  And finally, months after a time when speech should have come, he didn't talk.  Not one word.
